Account Manager Salary Glassdoor
Account Manager Salary Glassdoor – At Rora, we’ve helped hundreds of software engineers and product managers negotiate the highest compensation possible. As a result, we get a lot of questions about the salary data people find online. The craziest thing we see is that a huge number of people still use Glassdoor for salary data. DO NOT trust Glassdoor salary data. Don’t trust Facebook’s Glassdoor salaries, Amazon’s Glassdoor salaries, Google’s Glassdoor salaries, Apple’s Glassdoor salaries, or Microsoft’s Glassdoor salaries. Don’t trust Glassdoor’s salary period.
You should be skeptical of all Glassdoor tech salary data. If you use Glassdoor salaries, you will often undervalue yourself by 2-5x, which means leaving $100,000+ on the table.
Account Manager Salary Glassdoor
Why is Glassdoor’s data so bad? In short, they do not consider the salary range at each level and do not adjust for unique compensation structures between stock grants, annual bonuses, signing bonuses, and stock transfers.

For example, Glassdoor claims that the average salary for a Software Engineer (SWE) at Facebook in San Francisco is $165,642 per year (across all experience levels). Although the actual data shows it
On Facebook you can get $191,400 a year + $75,000 signing bonus. Here’s what a competitive new SWE degree analysis might look like:
What about engineers with more experience? For Facebook SWEs with 4-6 years of experience (YoE) in San Francisco, Glassdoor claims they earn an average of $188,525 per year. They also claim that the capital stock will vary from $1,000 to $1,000,000. Quite the range.
Big Tech Salaries: What You Make At Apple, Facebook, Google, Amazon
What should they really be paid? With 4-6 YoE, most engineers will level up to Software Engineer (E4) or Senior Software Engineer (E5).
Facebook has never given $1 million in equity to a Senior Software Engineer (E5) (that’s the equity given over 4 years for an average E6 offer). Likewise, no Software Engineer (E4) has ever received only $1,000 in equity. A typical initial E4 offering at San Francisco-based Facebook would include about $300,000 in equity over four years. Even if you live in a city with a lower cost of living and working in the US, your initial offer should include about $210,000 in equity over four years.
Glassdoor tried to include stock and bonus compensation (which is a good start!), but they’re missing important elements that could cause you to not get paid at all.
The good news is that all standard offers at Facebook, Compass, Google, Amazon, Microsoft and Apple will include base salary, annual target bonus and equity.
Digital Marketing Salary: How Much Can You Earn In 2023?
Let’s look at some of the missing elements you need to know in each company.
If you go to Glassdoor you won’t understand any of this. If you were to add Amazon’s compensation to Glassdoor immediately after receiving the offer, what would you report? A big cash bonus and a small cash reserve? In comparison, if you were in your third year you would report the opposite. Because Glassdoor isn’t set up for Amazon’s unique compensation structure, you can’t get the level of information and detail needed to properly negotiate with them.
There are critical details that are important in a negotiation – such as knowing when a salary element has been maximized. At Amazon, in all pay regions except the Bay Area and New York, base salaries are capped at $160K. This was even true of Jeff Bezos when he was CEO.
For senior employees with competing offers with base salaries of $200K – $350K+, a logical next step would be to ask Amazon for a higher base salary.
What Is An Aws Tam?
But if you ask Amazon for a higher base salary, your compensation package won’t increase. Instead, you need to ask for a larger first and second year signing bonus and a stock package.
Glassdoor Facebook Salaries Missing Sign Up Bonuses. For junior and senior roles, Facebook will often exclude signing bonuses in their initial offer.
Based on role and level, Facebook can make signing bonuses up to $100,000. Unfortunately, Glassdoor’s dataset doesn’t even mention signing bonuses, let alone ranges.
Glassdoor Compass salaries exclude signing bonuses. For some companies the impact is minimal – you might lose $10,000-$20,000. But at Compass we recently added a $120,000 signing bonus for an IC3 engineer. Their sign-up bonuses are even more competitive for advanced customers, but like Facebook, most offers start without a sign-up bonus.

Google has been testing a new stock vesting program in its cloud computing group in select offerings in recent years. They have now made it available in the majority of their offers (technical and non-technical). The new structure looks like this:
However, the old structure was 25% p.a. The change makes Glassdoor’s equity data unreliable at Google. For example, is the total quoted 4 years? Or is it just the first year? Is the first year in a 33% structure or a 25% structure? That difference can run into the hundreds of thousands in an application.
According to Glassdoor, Microsoft employees with 10-14 YoE make $140, $242 per year in base salary. However, most engineers at Microsoft with 10-14 YOE are Senior Software Engineers (L63-L64) or Principal Software Engineers (L65-L66). Both engineering roles pay over $140K at Microsoft HQ.
Microsoft’s maximum base salary is also incorrect on Glassdoor. The band’s top bid reported by Glassdoor is only $175,000, but prime centers can be significantly higher.

If you plan to spend more than a year at Apple, then you’ll be lucky enough to receive new stock grants every year from Apple (known as stock/equity rolling).
Apple refreshes are some of the best in the business and you should include them when comparing deals. Unfortunately, Apple recruiters rarely share details about your resume, and Glassdoor doesn’t list them at all.
An understanding of role levels and corresponding pay bands is a priority. If you don’t know what level someone was at when they got a certain salary, then you end up negotiating blindly.
Unfortunately, Glassdoor provides no structure to compensation data, and the “loose” nature of compensation lists means that the levels and titles recorded are confusing and often inaccurate. So if a recruiter tells you that you are a L6 Software Engineer at Compass, what does that mean?
What Does A Project Management Salary Look Like?
Check out Glassdoor’s Facebook roles for engineers. Looking at this list, you might be wondering if you are a Software Engineer V or a Software Engineer IV? Is the IV going through?
Despite what Glassdoor’s Facebook roles might lead you to believe, leveling at Facebook is structured very differently. As an engineer, your recruiter will expect you to list roles as “Staff Software Engineer” or “L6 Software Engineer”. For other roles the leveling will be constant but the title will be replaced. for example, Senior Data Engineer or Senior Product Manager.
In some cases, the data on Glassdoor will have the titles you’re looking for, but be careful that the listings between companies are truly comparable.
Remote roles are quickly becoming popular at Google, Facebook, Amazon, Apple, Microsoft and Compass. However, the payment is not the same in all locations. How much should you adjust?
Account Manager (am)
Glassdoor fails to collect enough data to provide realistic salary differences based on location. For example, according to Glassdoor, a Facebook Software Engineer in Seattle would make more than a Software Engineer in San Francisco (the closest data point to its headquarters in Menlo Park). In fact, Facebook employees in the Bay Area and New York City are paid the highest, while Seattle—while competitive—is lower, especially in RSUs. The main factor that determines Facebook pay zones outside of the Bay Area / NYC is depending on local labor costs (how well your role pays in your city).
Equity is an important part of tech compensation. Negotiating the maximum is essential to a successful negotiation.
However, Glassdoor’s stock data is often skewed because employees who have worked at Facebook, Google, Amazon, Apple, or Microsoft for several years will enter data that includes stock appreciation. Why does it matter? The last two years:
If you signed up two years ago and then added your stock (equity) to Glassdoor, would you add it based on your original grant or would you add it based on the current share price? The lack of consistency makes a huge difference because stock prices have risen much faster than compensation over the past two years. For example, we helped a client negotiate a Google L4 offer in April 2020 – right when the share price fell during Covid. Now the $440,000 equity grant is worth more than $1 million. If he listed his equity on Glassdoor as $1 million, that would be your perception of the top of the band, since Google does not provide $1 million in equity to L4.
