Our airline flies to more than 90 destinations with 110 Airbus and Boeing aircraft, serving 18.6 million passengers annually in 2017 and carrying 580,000 tons of cargo. In recent years we have won many awards for our services and products, inventory offer, loyalty program, training and maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) service. The group consists of seven business units – Operations, Trading, Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO), Human Resources, Finance, Support Services and Transformation. The Etihad cabin crew uniform is, in my opinion, the best flight attendant uniform on the market. !Here’s why:
Since 2014, Etihad Airways cabin crew have been wearing the current uniform designed by Italian designer Ettore Bilotta.
During initial training, the crew will visit the Etihad Airways Style & Image Boutique to get fitted into their uniforms.
Choosing their size is not so easy: each one is carefully tailored to the individual measurements of each team member, meaning that the uniform fits each team member perfectly.
Etihad Airways Cabin Crew Assessment Day [bangkok] (march 2019)
The Etihad cabin crew look great in their uniforms. This is unlike uniforms like Emirates, which have a much looser fit and the staff figure is not visible.
You can see the image of the crew in Etihad uniform: skirts and blazers fitted at the waist creating an hourglass look. The uniform fits well but is not too tight.
The look of the uniform is based on a haute couture blend of classic airline uniforms from the 1960s, mixed with contemporary fashion. Etihad wanted to bring back the elegance and luxury of the golden age of flying.
It was definitely a hit. The uniform is glamorous, retro and sophisticated. The length of the skirt is always above the knees, not above – this maintains an elegant look in all situations. And the angled hat is so vintage chic.
Do Flight Attendants Have To Wear Skirts?
The uniform is really practical and versatile for the crew. The skirt is black and the shirt is patterned, meaning if food or other stains get on your in-flight uniform, you won’t even see the stain.
The colors of the uniform also suit all skin tones. Being a multicultural company, Etihad employs employees from over 100 countries!
While on board, crew members change to other parts of the uniform for practical and service reasons.
For example, flight attendants change into low-heeled cabin shoes for comfort and wear aprons for meals. If they are cold, they can also wear a company-supplied sweater.

Cabin Managers (CM), Cabin Seniors (CS), Food and Beverage Managers (F&B) and Chefs are all considered leaders on the Etihad team.
Cabin Senior is responsible for Economy, F&B Business, Chef is responsible for First Class and Cabin Manager has overall responsibility. Leaders on board wear a slightly different uniform for easy identification.
All female flight attendants wear a purple headscarf (as opposed to the green worn by normal flight attendants) and flight attendants wear a purple tie as opposed to green.
Female CS and F&B wear a purple cap, but female chefs wear a brown cap like regular cabin crew.
How To Apply
The Cabin Steward (CM) wears the jacket during the flight and other crew members take it off during the flight.
Cabin managers do not wear aprons while on duty and usually wear purple sweaters as opposed to the white sweaters worn by flight attendants.
Compared to the plain skirts worn by other cabin crew, their skirts are also lightly tailored.
Once the chef boards, he changes into a white chef’s jacket and brown chef’s apron.

On some A380 flights (Sydney, London, Paris and New York), a butler will be present if the residence is booked. They wear penguin suits (formal evening jackets).
Most flights also have a nanny in economy. The babysitter will turn into an orange babysitter on board and introduce herself to all the families on board if time permits.
Most babysitters are not fans of these dresses, as the color and cut can sometimes be quite off-putting.
The crew has brown leather gloves and a trench coat that they bring to winter locations. The fur is purple in females and brown in males.
Etihad Airways Is The First Airline With 100% Of Crew On Board Vaccinated
All suitcases, handbags and shoes are provided to the crew so they all look the same. When Etihad cabin crew walk through the airport, they look very smart because they all look the same.
Uniforms aren’t just the clothes the crew wear – they’re an important part of the style and image of the Etihad look. Cabin crew must wear 6 pieces of makeup: foundation, blush, eye shadow, mascara, powder and lipstick.
They should do their nails: a French manicure or a pink manicure. Nails are well-maintained and artificial, not too long.
Although ground staff have been allowed to wear trousers for years, this is the first time in Etihad’s 16 years that cabin crew have been allowed to wear trousers. Earlier only skirts could be worn.

In 2019, Etihad Airways changed its style and image for flight attendants by allowing them to wear facial hair that is trimmed and well-kept.

Alternatively, if you have an Etihad Open Day or Assessment Day coming up, click here for lots of tips and what to expect! For the first time in Etihad Airways’ 16-year history, the airline has updated its outdated cabin crew dress code to include women’s cabins when selecting trousers. The Abu Dhabi-based airline introduced its current uniform in 2014, which allowed ground staff to choose skirts or trousers, but insisted cabin crew wear skirts.
Designed by Ettore Pilotto, the uniforms were created to “exude a classic elegance rarely seen in the aisles of modern aircraft,” according to a press release at the time. Etihad Airways said the uniforms are a tribute to the golden age of aviation – “bringing back the classic elegance, grace and opulence to our men and women that will become their signature look,” said Aubrey Tait, Etihad’s vice president. . Guest services.
We’re not sure why Etihad doesn’t allow its cabin crew to choose their trousers, but it’s easy to assume the airline is trying to project a classic yet stereotypical image of what we’ve been brought up with. Flight attendants look on.
Flight Attendant Uniforms Around The World
However, this is (thankfully) changing quickly, and Etihad Airways has once again proven that it moves with the times. An Etihad spokesperson told us:
“The current uniform, which was introduced in December 2014, has always included the preferred trousers for our ground staff. We have extended this option to our cabin crew since July.” “Feedback so far has been very positive as it gives them more flexibility and choice in what clothes they want to work in.”
The airline joins a growing list of well-known premium airline brands that have updated uniform norms to suit changing social norms. Earlier this year, Virgin Atlantic made headlines after making trousers the standard choice for female flight attendants’ uniforms – and eliminating the requirement for women to wear make-up.
Japan Airlines recently unveiled a new uniform for flight attendants that includes trousers for the first time. Hong Kong-based Cathay Pacific says it will finally offer a pants option after years of campaigning, but the change has yet to be implemented.
