Funeral Assistants and Funeral Directors with a unique and diverse role in providing funeral services after notice of death. They are the bereaved family’s first point of contact at the time of initial call and when removing the deceased from their home premises. This expert group also liaises with the coroner/coroner, financial staff, morgue and bereavement staff, and the police during the transfer and care of the deceased. They are responsible for caring for the deceased and assisting the bereaved during their stay at the funeral, and personal care and assisting the bereaved during visitation. Funeral staff attend funerals to transport the deceased safely to a crematorium or cemetery and to care for the bereaved during the funeral, which is an emotional time for family and friends.
