Ios File Manager App
Ios File Manager App – Expand / This nearly empty App Store stub suggests that Apple will add a file explorer to iOS 11.
Apple’s Worldwide Developers Conference kicks off in a few hours, but it’s never too late to leak! iOS developer Steve Troughton-Smith found an App Store entry for an app published by Apple called Files. The list appears to be a plug-in used to re-enable pre-installed first-party apps that you’ve decided to remove, and that Apple added support for last year in iOS 10.
Ios File Manager App
Not much is known at the moment, but the app’s name and icon strongly suggest that Apple plans to add some kind of local file manager to iOS 11. The fake screenshots are for the iPhone and iPad versions of the app, so it shouldn’t be an iPad-only feature.
Filer: Elegant File Manager For Iphone And Ipad
The Files app will likely look a lot like the iCloud Drive app Apple added in iOS 9 — it’ll just offer access to local apps and files instead of those stored in Apple’s cloud. The app also seems to stop opening the iOS file system if the macOS file system is open; regardless, an iOS file manager is a long-standing request of many power users, and any app that provides this type of functionality is a welcome development.
UPDATE: Apple announced a new file manager today. The demo showed that the app will provide access to local files and files in cloud storage services such as Dropbox, iCloud Drive and Box. It supports subfolders, options, search, tags, and a list where files can be sorted by size and date.
You’ll also be able to drag and drop using other applications, such as dragging attachments from email to a file manager. The new manager will be part of iOS 11, arriving this fall.
